I know I'm months late in commenting, but you have only just given me your blog address.

A few years ago I had a dream with a white rabbit in it. I enjoy interpreting my dreams and couldn't seem to interpret a rabbit let alone a white one totally out of the blue and not in keeping with the theme of the dream, so I looked it up on a site called Dreammoods.

According to that site: "To see a white rabbit in your dream, symbolizes faithfulness in love."

I told my partner and we both seemed happy with that explanation, but looking back now I wonder how he really felt. You see, it was about that time when he was cheating on me with many people on a pretty regular basis.

So I now wonder about the origin of the "saying white rabbit" first thing every month?

According to my mum (it's probably some strange old Yorkshire custom), the first thing you're supposed to say on the first day of the month (before you say anything else) is "white rabbits." It apparently brings good luck for the coming month. The fact that I invariably forget (and at some point during the day she'll usually ask, "Have you said, 'white rabbits?'" probably explains why the last few months have been rather "challenging."

I don't think it counts if you say it after you've already said something else, though I could be wrong on that. Mother's never really explained the theory behind "white rabbits." :D
