Swiss cheese brain update 28/10/08
Theoretically, as both my now working shunts (I still can’t believe I’ve got 2.5 shunts in me!) are pressure controlled (the VP one’s a programmable adjustable one, and the LP one has an extra pressure valve in it that I had put in when I had the last revision to that a couple of years ago) I shouldn’t get low pressure – if the pressure’s not high they simply won’t drain. Ups and downs and shunt settling are to be expected after shunt surgery though, so it’ll be a while yet before things settle down properly, but Mr M did say that if I get persistent low pressure he can just tie off the LP shunt, and he can do that under local anaesthetic (that was originally what we were going to do in May). Hopefully though with two working shunts it should keep the pressure okay, and fingers crossed the damned thing works for longer than the last one did and stays where it’s supposed to be!
Back to those plans….this week’s are pretty easy. Apart from replying to a couple of emails that have been lurking in my inbox that need replying to, my main tasks for the week are to fill in my IHRF Registry annual update form, and check out the OU website and see if I can decide which course to register on for next year. Next week I’ll do a bit more, and finish off the website I need to finish (only a couple of pages to go apart from a few odd tweaks) and then start thinking about a couple of forthcoming web projects.
